As Small Business Owners we all have had the "best laid plans" go astray. Getting ERMA Institute ready for operation has been challenging, sometimes overwhelming, but fun.
ERMA is an acronym for:
Entrepreneur Resource Management Association
Association - a group of people or organizations joined together for a purpose
We have gathered a core of experts in the areas of law, accounting/bookkeeping, business plan development, marketing, sales, presentation skills and employee management to develop and facilitate interactive, hands on workshops for the independent business owner.
These same individuals can be a resource or specialized business coach for the individual business owner.
Our Mission is to:
-
Enhance Critical Skills of the Small Business Owner
-
Respond to the Ever-Changing Business Environment
-
Match Training and Coaching to the Unique Challenges Facing the Small Business Owner
-
Act as a Support Unit for the Small Business Owner
Having always been an optimist, I, of course, had lofty ambitions of how quickly how could launch this program. Finding like-minded professionals willing to share their knowledge, designing interactive, relevant course work, launching a website, networking and getting the word out about our services and on and on and on...and somehow getting it all done by a specific date as a completed project finally overwhelmed me. Finally, I had to ask myself what is most important: Getting the workshops launched by a designated date or making sure the workshops were of the highest quality. When I took the time to actually ask myself the question, the answer was of course easy. Slow Down and Do It Right. As business owners, I think we often set ambitious goals and because we are working so hard to meet them, we lose focus on what is most important. For me,making sure ERMA Institute offers a quality product that helps business owners not only achieve success, but live their dream is my primary goal.
We have decided to back off the actual training until the end of April and get it right the first time. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing "Lessons Learned" and hear from others who are making their business happen.
